Mattamy Homes – Largest Privately Owned Homebuilder in North America

It’s the smell of fresh cut grass.

Well, it’s that and the smell of saw dust in a new build – it always takes me back, Larry Craven, Division President of Mattamy Homes’ Dallas

division began.

Craven was reminiscing on what reminds him of his love for homebuilding. A seasoned professional with a visionary mindset, he knew decades ago exactly the career path he wanted to take.

After nearly 30 years in the real estate world, Craven is leading the charge of the newly formed Dallas division for Mattamy Homes after acquiring the homebuilding operations of New Synergy Homes.

I sat down to chat with Craven and Mattamy’s Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Will Grimes to discover the Mattamy difference. Mattamy Homes is new to DFW, but they have been building homes for 40 years.

Mattamy Homes is the largest privately owned homebuilder in North America with divisions in 17 markets across Canada and the United States, including Charlotte, NC, Dallas, TX,

Jacksonville, FL, Naples-Ft. Myers, FL, Orlando, FL, Palm Beach, FL, Phoenix, AZ, Port St. Lucie, FL, Raleigh, NC, Sarasota-Bradenton, FL, Tampa, FL,

Tucson, AZ.

Mattamy has been named the “Best Place to Work” multiple times at several divisions across North America. “Not only are we building quality homes, but we’re making a positive impact on the environment as well. That’s important to our customers and to our team.”

Mattamy Homes just built its first energy-efficient townhomes within a sustainable community inspired by nature and powered by clean energy technology. “Innovation and progression marks the Mattamy brand, said Craven. This is due in large part to the fact that they’re privately-owned. We’re more nimble than most big companies,” Craven note.

This gives Mattamy team members freedom to launch ideas like the eco-friendly initiative and their newest product in Kensington Place in Farmers Branch: standalone, three-story townhomes called urban products. The architecture is unique, and thoughfully designed for the customer to have all the right spaces in the home. Right off of 635, near Luna Road, Kensington Place is conveniently located with easy access to major highways, the airports, and major work centers.

With new subdivisions in the works from Gunter to Farmers Branch to west Fort Worth, Craven said Mattamy Homes will certainly span the metroplex within the next few years.

With 20 years experience in the new home industry – and having worked for some of the bigger homebuilders in DFW, Grimes is looking forward to DFW homebuyers experiencing the difference that is instilled in all Mattamy team members – one where the goal is to make homebuyers time with a Mattamy team member unforgettable and an experience that surpasses their expectations of a new homebuilder. “Actively listening is a fun catch phrase, but it is standard practice throughout Mattamy, Grimes said. Our New Home Counselors are going to dig deep to help Mattamy Home buyers find the perfect home for their needs.”

Kensington Place is where we met and it’s obvious this upscale, thoughtfully designed community was carefully planned for the way people live. It features gorgeous single-family homes and townhomes in the heralded Mercer Crossing master planned community. This self-contained neighborhood offers an amazing ampitheatre to enjoy open-air entertainment on the community lawn, 3 club houses, a dog park, pools, and trails, not to mention gorgeous traditional Texas Tudor themed architecture home styles, inviting streetscapes including cul-de-sacs and lakeside views.

“We are excited to bring Mattamy to Dallas and look forward to delivering homes to our customers that exceed expectations,” Will added.
